Lake Pepin

Road trip unplanned, loot we pursue,
Pumpkin spice warmth, brownies to chew.
Lakeside repast, feet in cool spray,
Mossy rocks hold, where memories sway.

Car concert joy, voices entwine,
Seashells you gather, treasures so fine.
Fish fossil discovered, "Joseph Bones" you name,
Your smile, sun-kissed, sets my heart aflame.

Hand in hand, nature's embrace,
Rock walls and trees, etched on your face.
Shoulders too young, burdens you bore,
Healing a heart, wounded and sore.

Anger released, sadness departs,
Stolen childhood, mending of hearts.
Peace found in you, innocence's guide,
Fiercely protected, walking beside.
